TC TO JOHN FORSTER
Chelsea, 22 Augt, 1848—
Thursday will do, no day better;1 the united female mind accepts (as does the male, so far) with joy!— Cousin's name is a synonym: Jane (Scotica, Jeannie) Welsh, a cheery bright little girl,—and the only specimen I know or ever saw of the ancient Scottish golden hair, once very fashionable, now quite gone out,—hair the colour of a new guinea. So accept her duly.
For the Mss. too I have found a use;2 new tobacco having just arrived. Depend on it, there is not one sentence there that ought not to be burnt: let us accept that sad fact.
Yours ever truly /
