5. Cheyne Row, Chelsea 3 May, 1852—

Dear Madam,

The inclosed Note has been sent to me by Mr Emerson, from Margaret Fuller's Mother,1 with earnest charges about conveying it safe to you, and assisting what I can in the matter it relates to.

I hope you will give me the satisfaction of knowing straightway that you have got the letter; and certainly if there is anything I could do towards helping forward, in any way, such a pious enterprise as I understand this to be, I should be very ready to do my best.

Had I known your address I should have ventured on the liberty to call on you myself but this conveyance by Mr Woolner2 seems equally sure.
