TC TO AN UNIDENTIFIED CORRESPONDENT
Chelsea, 18 june, 1853—
My dear Sir,
I am very glad to hear of your progresses and achievements in the pilgrimage of life. “He that getteth a good wife,” Solomon assures us long ago,1 has done a considerable thing!
Do not forget your promise to come down and see me. At 3 p.m. any day I am accessible here, for a walk thro' the lanes; and most evenings, except when busy.
With many hearty good wishes,
Yours always truly, /
T. Carlyle
