TC TO JANE BAILLIE WELSH
[18 April 1825]
Dearest,
I am coming out this afternoon, with all my books and watches and other wares. I was ready on Saturday;1 but so sick and dow'd [pithless, without vitality] that I could not venture. Today I am as well as usual—and in the afternoon at 7—!— A dieu! My dearest! (In great haste) I am yours ever,
Thomas Carlyle
