TC TO JOSEPH NEUBERG
Chelsea, 1 May, 1857—
Night before last I got a note from Wms & Norgate,1 whh I meant to send you, with request to begin a small operation upon it for me. The Note, today, is lost; but it was merely an Application from Tauchnitz of Leipzig2 abt our forthcoming Book; and the operation can go on, all the same.
Tauchnitz has written to Williams & Norgate, Henrietta Street Covent Garden, that he wants to print that Fh II (in English);3 and Wms & Norgate ask me to write to them, or to come &c: that was the lost Note;—and I think it will be briefer if you start from that basis, & manage the thing for me.
French Revn, you can tell Tauchnitz, I am happy to hear is well printed: price given for it (only £25) seems to me very low.4 Are there no other (old) Books of mine he wd like to print? Lr Day Pamphts;5 that wd be a sappy morsel, for example!
“Fk II” two “Histl Octavo” voll 500 pages each (or so) is actually now going to press; will be a Book (please God) before this time twelve month. Unless I am offered £100 for the privilege of printing, no bargain at present.— That is the sum of the thing; if you will be so favourable as put it into official language
Yours ever truly /
