[26 April 1859]

Dear Neuberg,—I have ordered the people to send me this incomplete Copy1 as soon as possible. You need not call, therefore,—unless it be quite handy;—but in case you do, ask when it is likely to come; and try if you can discover (in the Bibliographies whh Wms & Norgate have) what years the missing volume relates to? If to 1760 or the like, I shall care little about the want of it.— And report on Sunday Evg.

We continue to keep improving tho’ slowly;—and I am near the end of Book II; getting on a little better for the moment! I entreat the Fates you were free again to bear a helping hand. But we must wait.

Yours always truly

T. Carlyle
